Testimonials

Hi, I'm Anola!

I am currently in my 19th year of education and in my 6th year at what many would consider a challenging school. My school, grades 7-8, is in a city school district with a Title 1 program. During my first year in the program, I almost did not make it to the end of the year because of student apathy, lack of interest in choir and behaviors. Why? It was because of how I handled the first two weeks of school.

I have firsthand experience struggling the school year because I did not set myself or my students up for success. I walked in on day one that year thinking, because I had over a decade of experience, I'd be fine winging it. I was SO wrong.

I struggled for MONTHS after the worst first day of school I've ever had. It took me that long to recover from my mistake. And to be honest...I never fully recovered that school year. That was one of my hardest years of my career. What was my mistake? I didn't have a solid plan at the beginning of the year.

Throughout my time at my school, I have developed effective strategies and resources that have helped me successfully create and implement an engaging plan for the first two weeks of school with my students. The best part? Once it was complete, it was easy to adapt and use year after year.

And it works.

Entering into a new school year isn't scary anymore. It excites me and I am more confident in the classroom than ever. You know what's even more exciting? Helping other people gain the same level of confidence.
